December- Mid April - Any fishing will be done in New York State for Steelhead. The weather dictates as you can imagine, but I am licensed to guide these great rivers of chrome, and do so a couple of days a winter for special guests and friends. For up to the minute reports check out Randy Jones's site @ www.yankeeangler.com.

May 1st - This is the start ofgreat fishing locally. We have some high number fish days during this period poking around the lakes of New Hampshire that have good runs of rainbows and salmon running the tribs to spawn, and most importantly chase smelt. Some big browns cruise for these bait fish as well, and are much easier to catch than normal, as far as big browns go. Most of the fishing in these area's are done by wading. This great action lasts just long enough for the hendricksons to start on the many great rivers here in Vermont. It is then that we switch to drift boat trips and spend all day on the river. This can be the best dry fly action of the year, depending on flows.

June 1st. - Through this month we will provide float trips daily with access to about 100 miles of floatable productive water. 4-10 miles a day is about all we can handle so this leaves a lot of fresh water for the next day. Towards the end of June starts my three week trophy trout period. This is when you have the chance to catch some really big trout. Some near 2 feet long and others straightening the hook. There are some great dry fly moments during this period and some big swinging stuff too. Hang on and get some sleep as the ride leaves at 5 am.

July - Some good fish are still around and high water is usually not a problem. I prefer to chase trout and will do so during this month. however,we have some incredible small mouth fishing opportunities on the Connecticut river and the lower White river. Its up to you what we fish for. Using the drift boat for smallies is very productive.

August - We have some very technical dry fly fishing now. Trico's come off every morning on many Vermont trout streams, and we are sure to cast to a few. This is a great time of year for a half day wade trip. The good action usually lasts until 10 am or so.

September - With the heat now gone, back in the boat we go. Prospecting big dry's this time of year bodes well as trout look for Isonychia's for the better part of the day, while others key on the much smaller BWO. Either way, with the right conditions we are truly back living the good life.

October - This is a great time to be on the water. The leaves are changing colors and falling to the water. Trout are feeding with reckless abandon as winter approaches. Nearly all of the trout we catch are wild and predictable. Occasionally a stocky but not the target.
